The process of wasting time develops through a state of constant comparison and competition. If your "friends" are all going to the college, you've got to go too, otherwise you won't have a "future"; if they're all going to the party, you feel anxious in case you stay at home, because you're missing all the "fun" in the "present". Even "christians" are easily trapped by those worldly emotions, because although they may repress the desire of going to parties, they still resemble the old Diane, focusing on knowing better a subject in order to have a better life in the system. And that's how you never really know any better than the world, since your definition of 'life' remains the same.
They actually are not crazy, so it's not possible to have an odd conversation with them.
The sooner you become anti-"social" the better.
